"desc": "William Pierce was born in Boston December 25th, 1744 and was a confidant of John Adams. Before the war, he was a barber in Dock Square at the sign of the “Great Boot” and opened a shop for himself on Marshall Street. He famously claimed to have shaved Benjamin Franklin and was a member of the Massachusetts Charitable Mechanic Association. He later died in 1840 after performing his profession for 78 years; he is buried at the Granary Burying Ground, Tomb 184."
